Underwood Hills is located just north of Downtown Atlanta off of I-75 and Howell Mill Rd. The neighborhood was established in the early 1900’s but most of the brick and frame cottages were built in the 1920’s by residents employed by a local railroad. Construction of I-75 isolated the neighborhood from much of the city and the residents of Underwood Hills fought tirelessly during the 1970’s and 1980’s to control nearby commercial development. Their efforts paid off and during the 1990’s many new single-family homes were built to accommodate buyers looking for intown real estate.  The pride of this neighborhood is Underwood Hills Park, which provides tennis and basketball courts, picnic areas, and a playground. Underwood Hills is conveniently located to I-75, I-85, Buckhead, Midtown and Downtown making it an easy commute to anywhere you could want to be.  Although newer homes are selling well into the $400,000-600,000+ range, it is still possible to find nicely renovated homes in the $250,000-300,000 range too
