We all know that these days, East Atlanta is mainly known for the Village itself, made up of the bars, shops and restaurants that hover around the Flat Shoals / Glenwood intersection just south of I20. There are some really great streets and homes in the neighborhood as well with everything from 1950s brick ranches to my favorite, the Craftsman bungalows, as well as the new construction that pops up here and there. The Argosy, which really blew me away by it’s size alone, was a nice, new addition to the area and now we have more news on something new for the EAV. Trammel Crowe Residential is on the move in East Atlanta with the Alexan apartment brand which recently appeared at Town Brookhaven a few years ago; they also have plans to bring the same style of high density living to Decatur, Krog Street Market and Vinings.

It’s not what everyone would necessarily choose to put in the middle of a very alternative / hipster neighborhood, but growth is a good thing for this area if we want it to continue to move in a positive direction. This is still the place to come and find a very affordable starter home or something nicely renovated for a bit more. Atlanta is growing whether we like it or not and so much of the new development in town is based around convenience, walkability and efficiency which we need to become a more sustainable city that keeps its young minds in town after they graduate from college and think about where they want to live for the next 20 years.

Take a drive around these neighborhoods and see for yourself all of the dirt flying around and heavy equipment making tracks. The real estate market is alive and well and set up for a big 2015. These neighborhoods hold their value through recessions and the like; the people know their neighbors and look out for each other. They join neighborhood associations and communicate on neighborhood specific websites…I am one of them and I stand up for my neighborhood and my investment. It just feels good and right…doesn’t it?! So hey, if you’re a young kid out of college and need to rent, I get it; but once you’ve found that particular vibe that you love…invest in it and call it yours. East Atlanta was named the 3rd most likely neighborhood to explode in 2015 and I plan on taking part in making that happen by selling homes to folks that love it for what it is…the EAV.
